This is how i celebrated that its a new year, with a promise to build more fine guitars.. so far so good, today i have resawn some of the lumber that I bought from a furniture factory here in sweden this summer. The braz was from a shipment made in the 70s, and there were still some goodies left to catch.

I am making a guitar for a guy in Sweden named Lars. I guess that is a fairly common name.

Jag ar Amerikansk men ar 3/4 Norska och 1/4 Svenska. Mest mina anhoriga ar fran nara Trondheim men min fader mamma ar fran Malmo, Sverige. Bara Norska och Svenska jag veta kommer fran talande Norska med min farforaldrar nar Jag var en barn och av laser Aftonbladet och Aftenposten pa internet sa min Svenska spraklara ar fattig och begransad.

Min foraldrar vagra till tala Norska eller Svenska darfor en gang de kom till Amerika i 1950's de sa de var nu Amerikansk sa Jag ar bara en i mina anhoriga som ar fortfarande en viking.

Har ett bra ny ar gitarr byggnad och gora saker vi se bilder av adet BRW gitarr nar det ar gjort.

I am American but am 3/4 Norwegian and 1/4 Swedish. Mostly my family is from near Trondheim but my fathers mother is from Malmo, Sweden.

The only Norwegian and Swedish i know comes from speaking Norwegian with my grandparents when I was a child and by reading Aftonbladet (swedish newspaper) and Aftenposten (norwegian newspaper) on the internet so my Swedish grammar is poor and limited.

Have a good new year guitar building and make sure we see pictures of that BRW guitar when it is done.

Lars, that is some beautiful wood. Is that furniture factory close to the Norwegian border by any chance?

John, thats amazing, whats the name of this guy, is he living in stockholm? Would be fun to speak to him and try out his new guitar! Do you have lots of orders like that, i mean, its quite a chance to take to order a guitar from half the world, or has be been to your shop?

Valdigt bra, Shawn! You speak better swedish than my english! Where in the us do you live? Actually, in the village i come from, the population went down from 1200 to about 700 people between 1850 and 1900, mostly because of the imigration to "the new land". But I see your relatives came later. Have you read the books by Vilhelm Moberg, they are very discribing in this.

I think i have been to trondheim Arnt, but thats a long time ago, with my family in a mobile home. I think we went through Roros and then on south. At least i remember roros to be a beautiful place. If you happen to go to Ekenassjon in smaland you can you can contact the factory, they have some left still. But its all a mess, with mostly small peices of lumber all mixed in quality.

Ill shure post pics of the finished guitar, it will be an 15 3/4 inch guitar with a german spruce top. As Im in lutherie training right now im trying to apply with a well known luthier as a part of my coarse, and i'll be sending letters to some luthiers next week. Frankly, I'm most amazed that my browser could display the characters! I didn't know that Scandinavian letter forms were in there.

BTW, I am bilingual, I speak English AND American, both poorly!

It is a great risk for buyer and builder alike to do business over national lines. So far I have had good luck, sending one to Switzerland, one to New Zealand, one to Canada and one to England. Nock on wood.

That would be nice John, Mariestad is a a few 100 miles away, but at least its nice to know somebody has the taste and guts to buy a handmade across the seas. Thats a proof i have a mission in this country !

Oh yes Lars.
I imagine that there are fewer luthiers per capita there in Sweden (just a hunch) and that you could really fill a niche.
